I’m Rebecca, I’m a freelance digital creative and welcome to my blog! In July, I graduated from the University of Sussex with an English Language and Linguistics degree, and am now working as a freelancer. Since I was 16, I’ve been working towards a career in media, whether that was doing numerous internships with magazines and publishers during my university holidays, writing for online student newspaper ‘The Tab’ or, more recently, getting a job with my university’s social media team.
I first started creating videos for YouTube in 2013, which sparked my interest in videography. Since then, I’ve produced videos for events, the University of Sussex and video blogs for a youth-focused organisation. Photographing events, travel and portraits is also a passion of mine. I’ve always been the token photographer in every friendship group, so my friends are guaranteed new profile pictures for socials, and candid shots for the ‘Gram. Over the last year, I have worked with the University of Sussex as one of their digital student ambassadors, which entailed covering events on and off-campus, promoting new research from the university, and interviewing notable members of the Sussex community for their social media channels. I also created video content for them and wrote blogs for their bi-monthly online magazine.
I have recently begun my new role as Social Media and Marketing Officer for The Access Platform: a brilliant start-up who work in widening participation, student recruitment and marketing for universities. I am super excited for this new freelance venture as I am very passionate about making higher education accessible for everyone, regardless of their background.
So I hope you like my new website! I’m currently open for more freelance opportunities, so have a browse and feel free to contact me if you think we can create something together.
